South Africa has a handful of dope artistes, and their female artistes are still dope and can compete with any other artistes in Africa.
That said, we have a new music update. A new Album which was dropped by a South African and yes, a female.
The album was dropped by Simphiwe Dana who happens to be a Xhosa singer and also is a song writer in South Africa.
Dana is a female sensational singer who is blessed with the talent of bringing together unique sound of Jazz, Rap Afro-soul and the Traditional afro music we know.
Well, for the records she was given the title “new Miriam Makeba”.
Our good and talented female entertainer is also popular for her unique social commentary and her strength in activism through her musical works.
Earlier this year, the female artiste revealed that she has a new project in works, but did not mention when the album will drop.
Well, weeks back the South African artiste , Simphiwe Dana decided to come through from the moons to share the a new album named Bamako.
The project was laced with a total of 13 tracks and on it is featured some other leading afro singers like Usikhonzile and Uzokhala.
Commenting about the the album, she stated: “I literally just realized the other day that Bamako is that break-up album. It’s got a lot of songs about breathing through the wound. It hurts, but I’m gonna be fine.”
She was asked what brought the inspiration in creation of Bamako and it’s meaning, Simphiwe answered; “Bamako is the capital city of Mali. Where I worked with Salif Keita. I was paying homage to it.”
